Interim President and CEO Visits Washington DC with the State Chamber
Our Interim President and CEO, Jamie Southerland attended the State Chamber of Oklahoma Washington D.C. Fly-In on September 4-6. The 2018 Washington D.C. Fly-In was designed to offer Chamber members and business leaders in Oklahoma the opportunity to network with other industry leaders and participate in discussions that affect the business community.
The topics included policy-specific Issue Panels, Breakout Lunches and a tour of the National Cathedral. During the Issue Panels on Wednesday, members heard from national experts on trade and tariffs, net neutrality and mid-term election forecasts. Breakout sessions included energy infrastructure and regulations, innovation in education and pivotal Supreme Court decisions. On Thursday, Oklahoma’s congressional delegation addressed issues including immigration, armed services, trade and tariffs and the mid-term elections.
Amongst the speakers in attendance were U.S. Representative Tom Cole, U.S. Senator Jim Inhofe, U.S. Senator James Lankford, U.S. Representative Frank Lucas, and a host of others representing the state of Oklahoma. The event coincided with a dramatic week in the capital, including Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s hearings and the appointment of Senator Jim Inhofe (R-OK) to serve as the Chair of the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee.
