Happy Holidays… It’s a wonderful time of the year. For me, as part of my Christian faith, it’s one of the most special times of the year – one, well because it points to Easter which is the other most special time as a Christian believer. Brother Wayne says he loves Christmas as it points to the Cross-, and to Easter. As I was writing this article, I found myself thinking about how to begin, as I wanted to truly say Merry Christmas, as it’s my faith. But I did not want to offend others that perhaps do not celebrate Christmas, or perhaps have not accepted Christianity. Thus, I had a mental block, as I truly don’t want to offend anyone.   But I don’t want to offend my God, the most important person in my life.   So, I do very much wish to all, Happy Holidays, for whatever the reason it is you choose to celebrate.

As I was pondering the diversity in our society, it made me think about the diversity we have in our lives professionally. For me as the Chamber President and CEO, I have a very diverse membership base that I get to support, and I am so very thankful for this diverse group of members. Additionally, I have a diverse, professional, and strong Board and staff to help navigate through the many ways we support our members.

The Board and I fully recognize we have members that are both small business owners, box stores/chains with a local management team, large construction companies, medical professionals, realtors, non-profit organizations, and individuals. We have members such as Goodyear that has stood beside us and trusted us to support them, as they support our community for the 40 years they have been in Lawton.   In fact, we have an amazing member that told us her husband shared with her as he was passing, to please never drop their support of the Chamber of Commerce. To this day, this absolute precious member of our community remains a member of our Chamber.   So, what is it we are doing to support them? How do we give back to our members that give so much to the Chamber and our amazing community? I can share we are working many diverse issues. We are busy advocating for enhanced quality of life for all that live, work and play in the Lawton Fort Sill community.
