Taxes
Sales
Lawton’s sales tax is 8.5 percent, the city portion is 3.5 percent, Comanche County receives 0.5 percent, and the state receives 4.5 percent.
Personal Property
Comanche County does not have a personal property tax. Boats, mobile homes and recreational vehicles are tagged.
Property
Comanche County has 18 different school systems, with different tax rates for each. A basic formula for calculating property tax is market value multiplied by the assessment rate equals the assessed value; assessed value minus the homestead exemption multiplied by the school district’s tax rate equals annual property tax.
A quick rule-of-thumb is to multiply the home’s market value in thousands by $10.06 (for example, $150,000 home market value, 150 x $10.06 = $1,509.00 annual property tax).
State Income
The State of Oklahoma does have yearly taxes on income.
Voter Registration
Voter registration is located in Room 26 of the Comanche County Courthouse which is at the corner of 5th Street and C Avenue, 580.353.1880
