The Lawton Fort Sill community will be ushering in the next Juneteenth celebration with a variety of community centered events. Juneteenth, formally known as the Juneteenth Independence Day, is an American holiday and one of the oldest known celebrations commemorating the end of slavery in the U.S. As part of the yearly commemoration, residents gather for a day of fellowship and celebration. Consistent with the Lawton Fort Sill tradition, there will be a host of Juneteenth celebrations throughout the community as well as the City Wide Juneteenth Celebration at the Patterson Community Center on Saturday, June 15th. The event is free and open to the public.
