Supporting Legislative and Military Relationships

The Government and Military Affairs Department serves to support legislative and military relationships in the Lawton Fort Sill area. There are active committees for Military Affairs, Legislative Affairs and Co-Op.

Legislative activity includes two legislative lunch forums with state and federal delegates; a southwest Oklahoma legislative reception in Oklahoma City for regional delegates; and an annual fly-in to DC to meet with a host of legislators and dignitaries. Every year the Chamber conducts membership surveys and organizes focus groups to develop 3 agendas to provide direction in their advocacy efforts.

Military Affairs focuses on permanent party members of the Fort Sill community by creating events that allow Business leaders to interact with the leadership on the installation. These events are brigade level appreciation and business networking opportunities for both Fort Sill and Lawton community members respectively. An annual event is the Armed Forces Day luncheon to honor our military.

The Co-Op Program is a venue for civilian and military representatives to interact. Activities include softball tournament, the Bill Smith Memorial Golf Tournament, Buffalo Burger Cookout and Military Appreciation/ Family Fun day.
